The Aperture Series of brochures feature prestigious photographers and their work from recent times. This brochure pays tribute to Karl Blossfeldt who loved plant biology, photography, and teaching how the two unite.
The challenge of highlighting another creative's work in a brochure or other format is that the design that highlights their work should not outshine the work of the creative; in this case it is the photography of Karl Blossfeldt. To put it simply, the design of the brochure needs to correlate to Blossfeldt's highlighted work and not distract from it. I cannot allow my work to be better or worse than his; it needs to relate.
Taking Blossfeldt's work as the primary design element was fundamental to this brochures success along with choosing secondary design elements that blend and not strongly contrast with the work of Blossfeldt.
